Vercelli's Teatro Civico was built according to a design by architect Nicola Nervi and was inaugurated on July 4, 1815, with the opera "Evelina". In 1923 it was destroyed by fire and in the years that followed it was rebuilt on a plan that included a large stalls area and a single tier of boxes. The season is currently organised by the municipality of Vercelli with the collaboration of the Fondazione Piemonte dal Vivo.
